Psychodynamic Behavior Therapy

I. Theory and Rationale

Ben W. Feather, MD, PhD; John M. Rhoads, MD

Arch Gen Psychiatry. 1972;26(6):496-502.

Abstract

An unfortunate polarization exists between behavior therapy and other psychotherapies, at both theoretical and applied levels. Examination of similarities and differences between learning theory and psychoanalytic theory shows some areas of convergence which provide the rationale for an innovative form of behavior therapy.

All science is a search for hidden likenesses.

-Bronowski (1956)
