I AM delighted to welcome Joseph T. Coyle, MD, as the fourth editor
of Archives of General Psychiatry. Dr Coyle is the
Eben S. Draper Professor of Psychiatry and Neuroscience at Harvard Medical
School. He is an internationally renowned and respected scientist, educator,
and clinician who will add substantially to our team of JAMA and ARCHIVES
editors. We look to Joe to carry on the great tradition of Daniel X. Freedman,
MD, a mentor of Dr Coyle's, and the other former editors of the journal.
I also wish to publicly express my gratitude to Richard M. Glass, MD,
who has served as interim editor for the past 3 months. We are happy to have
him back full-time as deputy editor of JAMA.
Watch for great things to happen with Archives of
General Psychiatry under Joe's leadership.
Catherine D. DeAngelis, MD, MPH
Editor-in-Chief, Scientific Publications & Multimedia Applications Editor, JAMA
