This volume is not only dedicated to the teaching of psychotherapy at Temple University Medical Center: in its many chapters by members of each discipline in the hospital and medical school faculty, it presents the way psychotherapy is actually taught at Temple, as well as the attitudes, philosophy, orientation, and approach of the departments and teachers involved. Aspects of teaching to the nonpsychiatric physician, the social worker, medical student, psychiatric assistant, and psychiatric resident are presented.

This book is attractively published and edited. Each chapter begins with a valuable paragraph of comment or summary by the editor. To me the preface was the most impressive part of the book, for here at great length were actual quotations by residents in psychiatry commenting on their own training and reactions to the teaching and orientation of their own institution.
