The proceedings of a conference held at Duke University on Nov 18-19, 1962, sponsored jointly by the Research Committee of the American Psychiatric Association and the Department of Psychiatry of the Duke University School of Medicine, have now been gathered in book form. This is an excellent summary of electroencephalographic findings in various psychiatric conditions, ranging from "functional" disorders such as psychoses and neuroses on the one hand to "organic" disorders of alcoholism and endocrine disorders on the other hand. The material in each chapter should be available to every general psychiatrist. The chapter on the positive-spike phenomenon is especially useful.
