In this latest of his numerous articles and books on the subject of college psychiatry, Dr. Farnsworth admirably sums up his many years in this field in which he is unquestionably the outstanding authority. This volume is the outgrowth of the author's series of Salmon lectures before the New York Academy of Medicine in 1964 on the topic of mental health of college students. The book is directed to college educators of all types as well as to mental health professionals. Psychiatrists will be interested to see how their specialty may be used in a setting different from the mental hospital, community clinic, or private practice.

Dr. Farnsworth regards college psychiatry as in some ways a prototype of community psychiatry. The college psychiatrist has a number of roles beyond treating disturbed students.
