This monograph is dedicated to Prof. Ornuly Odegaard, of Oslo, whose study of the Norwegian migration to the United States is held up as a model of such studies. It is an attempt at synthesis of research into epidemiology and mental pathology of the geographical mobility of populations or, in other words, a study in the medicosociological psychiatry of migrations and transplantations. The author believes that it is legitimate to make a critical study of the numerous related medicostatistical studies and is astonished at how little attention has been paid to these documents by the great doctrinal movements which have agitated contemporary psychiatry. The monograph is divided into a first part (59 pages), which is a statistical study of the material available in the literature, and a second part (46 pages), which is a clinical study.
